Graduate Certificate in Australian Migration Law and Practice - foundations of excellence
The Migration Institute of Australia, through the Centre for Migration Education and Research, coordinates entry-level education for people wanting to join the migration advice profession. The Graduate Certificate course is currently offered by four Australian universities:
- + The Australian National University
- + Griffith University
- + Murdoch University
- + Victoria University
The course generally takes six months full-time or twelve months part-time study to complete. Course dates, enrolment requirements, course fees and detailed subject information are available on the universities' websites.
On 29 September 2006 a Ministerial Instrument specified a prescribed examination for the purposes of paragraph 5 (1)(c) of the Migration Agents Regulations 1998. Students are currently recognised as having passed the prescribed examination when they have passed each subject of the Graduate Certificate, and have also achieved a minimum score of 50% on assessment items relating to registration. These assessment items relating to registration consist of a 30% assessment item and a 15% assessment item in each subject. Each university will identify to students the assessment items relating to registration
